Eurofins Food & Feed Testing Sweden

Eurofins food & Feed Testing Sweden performs analysis in the field of microbiology, grain analysis, raw milk, general food chemistry, allergens, pesticides, contaminants and PFAS.

Eurofins Food & Feed Testing’s pesticide laboratory in Sweden has by Eurofins been appointed as Competence Center for PFAS testing for food in Europe. Eurofins in Lidköping (SE) started analyzing PFAS already at the beginning of the 2000s. After a break, the analysis was set up again in 2015 and since 2016 a large leading PFAS lab has been established.

Grain Testing Service

Cereals have been essential for food supply, trade and work for thousands of years. For almost 150 years, Eurofins laboratory in Kristianstad has performed agricultural analyzes and we know what is important when you sell, store or export your grain or oilseeds.

We have a large selection of analyzes for quality parameters for grain, oil seeds, legumes also covering flour and malting barley.

Biotoxines in shellfish

Toxins in mussels, particularly marine biotoxins such as the groups of substances referred to as DST, PST and AST, pose a significant threat to human health when consumed. These toxins can accumulate in the tissues of blue shells, oysters, clams and other shell fish during harmful algal blooms, which are increasingly common due to factors like climate change and nutrient pollution. Consumption of contaminated mussels can lead to various health problems related to shellfish poisoning, depending on the type of toxin present. Consequently, strict monitoring and regulation of shellfish harvesting areas are essential to prevent incidents of toxin-related illnesses and safeguard public health.

Cyanotoxins

Cyanotoxins are a group of potent toxins produced by certain species of cyanobacteria, commonly known as blue-green algae. These toxins, for example microcystin and saxitoxin,  pose significant threats to human health, aquatic ecosystems, and animals. Exposure to cyanotoxins can occur through direct contact with contaminated water or by consuming contaminated water or food (ie fish, clams, oysters). Limit values will be enforced on January 1 2026.

PFAS in food and feed

PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances), sometimes called highly fluorinated substances, is a large class of chemicals that today may comprise more than 9000 compounds. During the last decade, the exposure and environmental as well as health effects caused by these "forever chemicals" have received increasing attention. This applies in particular to drinking water that has been contaminated at fire training sites. At the same time, PFAS content in other matrices such as food, soil and products has come more into focus. In the same regulation has been broadened and limit values have been lowered. Eurofins offers a wide range of analyses that can be used in the work of identifying this group of chemicals.
